Mother Comes First

Sometimes one of the hardest calls you make as an adult child is to get homecare services for your aging parent. The realization that they are no longer capable to care for themselves is a hard pill to swallow. This is especially true when you’re a health care provider yourself and realize that the implications of the decisions you are about to make on your parent’s behalf might be the beginning of the end.

Such was the case for one of our dear clients. Charlene B. is a professional nurse who has worked with Advantage Private Home Care to train our staff and educate us on how to provide the most excellent hospice care to our patients. Charlene’s mother who lived in her own apartment with supervision was ill. Charlene’s mother had, had a cough and urinary tract infection that was not resolving. Once they convinced her to go to the hospital it was learned that mom was dealing with congenital heart failure and an infection. She was hospitalized for ten days.

As a nurse, Charlene knew how much care her mother was going to need upon being released from the hospital. Charlene was perfectly capable of providing the care her mother needed as a nurse, but what about her role as a daughter? Charlene knew she would need assistance with the around the clock care her mother was going to require.

Charlene called Advantage Private Home Care, and we were there from the first night out of the hospital, providing care so the family as a whole could get some much-needed rest. Charlene had many conversations with us at Advantage to discuss all the care possibilities for her mother.

“Both Daniel and Michael were very supportive and they made sure my mother was matched with just the right level of care and a care taker with a personality that would be a good match to my mothers.” – Charlene B.

Advantage Private Home Care took care of all the paperwork and handled the financial part as well. We stayed with Charlene’s mother till she no longer needed 24-hour care. We are happy to report that we assisted in finding her a care facility that meets her current needs.

“I will certainly call on Advantage Private Home Care again if my mother’s health takes a turn for the worse due to her ongoing chronic health issues. As a professional nurse and daughter, I know Advantage Private Home Care will provide the best level of care that my mother needs.” -Charlene B.
