Daniel Levy Interview

It’s amazing how time flies, LinkedIn graciously reminded me to congratulate my friend Daniel Levy on his 3 rd  year anniversary of owning Advantage Private Home Care which was originally founded in 2005.  As the notifications came in that others were also congratulating Daniel on his anniversary and success I thought this would be a great time to do a little interview with him and see how life has changed for him since he started.

My questions and his responses are listed below:

So, congratulations on your anniversary, what has changed for you in the last few years?

Going into my 3 rd  year running an established company like Advantage has been amazing! So much growth for me personally and professionally.  While taking over Advantage, my wife was pregnant with our twin boys.  We had our hands full with taking over Advantage and raising newborns.  Reflecting back, it has all been amazing.  As far as the growth of Advantage, we have had phenomenal success.  A huge part of our rapid growth was reuniting with Michael Westbury, Director of Operations and Sales.  He made an immediate impact due to his experience in private duty and other healthcare organizations.  We went from servicing 6 counties to 19 counties.  Due to our referral source’s and client’s requests, we now have expanded to 33 counties making us one of the largest private and independent home care companies in Metro Atlanta.

In the last few years of owning your own business, what has been the biggest lesson you have learned?

I think timing is everything.  I have learned that I was truly ready to do this.  I had worked in the homecare and home health field for 15 years before I took over Advantage.  I think it is important to really understand this industry and have the right experience and tools to be successful.

What was the surprised you the most about running a business?

How rewarding it can be.  There is no better feeling then having a family in need reach out and put their trust in Advantage taking care of a loved-one.  We meet in person with our families and really try to get an understanding on what they want us to focus on and who would be a right fit.  It is fulfilling to me when I know we brought such value to a family we serve and see the positive impact our services can make with a family in need.

What do you see for the future of Advantage Private Home Care?

We want to continue to make families aware of our service.  We want families to know if they have a loved-one who is a Veteran or surviving spouse that we can help them get free care.  We want to make more families aware that we can navigate their long-term care policy for them to help cover the cost of our care.  Lastly, we want to keep expanding our coverage into other areas of Georgia and assist as many families as we can by providing excellent care.

What’s the one piece of advice that has made all the difference to you?

Belief in yourself.  Reflecting back, I have been able to see outcomes from families that we have made a positive difference and impact on.  I am so thankful for my family, mentors, internal and external team, peers, and healthcare provider’s support during this unbelievable first few years.

Thank you, Daniel, for taking the time to talk and walk down memory lane with me today. I know that Advantage Private Home Care is just a reflection of the great team of people you have assembled to provide the best care for all those families who need that special attention of service.  So, thank you for doing all that you and Michael do.
